The Casino on Sugar Loaf Point in beautiful Avalon California. The word casino is of Italian origin and refers to festive area or gathering place. Completed in 1929 the Casino was the first completely round, steel reinforced structure built in America. The unique cantilever design allows the interior of the theater and ballroom to be free from vertical support columns. The Casino Theater is on the ground level, and on the upper level is a large ballroom where the "Big Band" dancing of the 1930's and 1940's made the Ballroom world famous.
